Our History

PDC is a non-profit that was founded in 1982. Of the 60 early intervention programs in Massachusetts, PDC is unique in that it is the only independent, free-standing program of its kind without a larger organization as an umbrella agency. We have evolved as a grass roots, independent agency motivated by the desire to provide early identification and intervention to young children with special needs and their families living in the Berkshires.

PDC’s Executive Director is a founding member of the organization, providing both consistent leadership and continuity in our efforts to provide quality services. PDC has a very active Board of Directors who has successfully supported the growth of the agency both fiscally and programmatically for 40 years. Our agency is viewed as an essential resource within the community, as a leader in identifying emerging needs and developing creative solutions to improve the lives of young children with special needs.

We are especially proud of our exceptional team of early intervention providers. Our program benefits greatly from the number of talented staff who have made PDC their career choice. Strong supervision, professional guidance, and dedication to service quality provide the foundation for PDC’s success.
